Talented all-rounder Lynn-Marié Nagel, a three handicapped player from Pietersburg, achieved an average of 89% with seven distinctions. She also won the subject prize for Economics in Limpopo (98%). Her other subject marks were: Afrikaans first language 87%, English first additional language 82%, Mathematics (the real one ) 83%, Business Studies 88%, Accounting 89% and Life Orientation 94%.

Devonvale Golf Club’s Olivia le Roux carded a two under par 71 to win the shortened Gauteng North Junior Championships played at Wingate Park yesterday. When the siren sounded for the lightning delay (which turned out to be the end of the event) she was level par after 27 holes.

Springbok and Protea golfer Gilly Tebbutt was inducted into the Hall of Fame at a glittering occasion at Oubaai in December by Mr Justice Pat Tebbutt.

Top-ranked SA Junior, 16 year-old-Lara Weinstein canned a 10 metre putt to win the 36 hole Western Province Junior Championship played at Durbanville Golf Club yesterday. She finished on 146 (73, 73), one shot ahead of Mowbray's Sammy Barber on 147 (75, 72). Kim Daniels (Uitenhage) and Monique Ramkisson (Scottburgh) tied for third position on 150.

14-year old Bianca Theron returned a second round of 67 to run away with the Boland Junior Champs played at Paarl Golf Club this week. KZN's Moinique Ramkisson scored her first hole-in-one when she aced her nine-iron tee shot at the par three seventh hole at Paarl Golf Club today in the first round of the Boland Junior Championships. The leader at the half-way stage of this inaugural championship event is Kuilsriver's Bianca Theron who shot a one under par 71, one stroke ahead of KZN's Michaela Fletcher's par 72.

WGSA announced this week that top ranked juniors Lara Weinstein and Izel Pieters will represent South Africa at the third Annika Invitational tournament to be played at the Reunion Resort, Independence (Watson) course, Reunion, Florida USA from 18 to 21 February 2011. The manager is WGSA President Erica Lefson.

South Africa’s Bertine Strauss carded a final round of 76 to finish in fifth position at the Mexican Women’s Amateur Championship played at the Club de Golf Vallescondido this week. The team results are not available but it is unlikely that the SA team will have improved from their fourth place after round three.

USA’s Lee Lopez carded a one-over par 73 to tie the lead with Mexico’s Margarita Ramos on 223 (+7) when the third round of the Mexican Women’s Amateur Championship was played in New Mexico yesterday.

The South African team fell back one position to fourth place in the team event, and will be focus today on regaining their third place in the final round.

Day two in Mexico was disappointing for the SA Players but they retain their third position in the International Pairs Tournament. Bertine Strauss is seventh in the individual competition on 158 (78, 80) while Tiffany Avern-Taplin is tied 10th on 162 (79, 83).

Bertine's score included a triple drop - but as she heads into round two, she will have forgotten the error as she celebrates her seven distinction matric pass announced today.

WGSA celebrates the start of 2011 by sending two top players to compete in the Mexican Women's Amateur Championship and the International Pairs tournament to be played at the Club de Golf Vallescondidi in Mexico City.

Tiffany Avern-Taplin and Bertine Strauss leave on New Year's day to compete in the championship which will be played from 5 to 8 January.

Lee-Anne Pace became the first ever South African to be crowned as the women's European No 1 by winning the Ladies European Tour's Henderson Money List, previously known as the order of merit, in Dubai on Saturday.

South African won both the team events at the Hex City Albatross Junior Championships played in New Delhi this week. The-54 hole tournament finished today with South Africa’s juniors all on the prize rostram. Lara Weinstein was the overall winner in the A Division, with Izel Pieters runner -up in the girls’ A Division. Dylan Raubenheimer won the boy’s A Division and Thriston Lawrence lost on the second play-off hole in the boys’ B Division.

Kim Williams was the pick of the five South African golfers who competed in the first stage of the Ladies European Tour qualifying school, held in La Manga Golf Club, Cartegena, Spain.

The South African juniors all posted great scores in the second round of the Hex City Albatross Junior Championships being played in New Delhi this week.

Former top ranked Bertine Strauss ends her school days tomorrow when she writes her final matric exam. She will join Tiffany Avern-Taplin in representing South Africa at the Mexican Women’s Amateur Championships and International Pairs Tournament to be played in Mexico City from 5 – 8 January 2011.

Determined to play well at her last amateur tournament this weekend, Kim Williams finished on eight under par, carding 67 and 69 (136), to win the Mpumalanga Women’s Championships by seven strokes from Swaziland’s Nobuhle Dlamini on 143 (74, 69). Gauteng’s Michelle Leigh, playing consistent golf, signed for 75 and 74 (149) to finish in third position.

Kim Williams is well-prepared and her low rounds will stand her in good stead as, together with Iliska Verwey, Henriette Frylinck and Nicole Becker, she leaves tomorrow for Spain where the girls will try to qualify for the professional Ladies European Tour in 2011. They will be in Europe for a month, playing in the various qualifying events. Connie Chen who has already turned professional will join them.

2009 SA Match Play Champion, Swaziland's Nobuhle Dlamini won the Ladies Open Amateur Championship of Nigeria on a two-over par 148 from South Africa's Lumien Orton on 150 when the event was played at Abuja on Friday and Saturday 12 and 13 November.
