Defending champions Gauteng North A retained their title by the narrowest of margins when they won the Pick n Pay SA Women’s Inter-Provincial at the picturesque George Golf Club today.
Southern Cape looks to promotion back to the A Division

South Africa and Gauteng North’s top pairing of Kim Williams and Henriette Frylinck swept the foursomes stroke play this morning on three-under 69 in the qualifying round of the Pick n Pay Women’s Inter-Provincial at George Golf Club.

KwaZulu Natal and SA Junior Michaela Fletcher aced her tee shot at the par three sixth hole at George Golf Club for a great start to the 2011 Pick n Pay Women’s Inter-Provincial Tournament which officially kicks off today.
Boy beats girl in play-off at Duke of York Young Champions Trophy
Harry Casey (pictured here with the Duke) won the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy when he defeated Harang Lee, the European Young Masters Girls’ champion, at a first extra hole where he was a whisker away from making a birdie. His friends had not envied him such a play-off situation and the player himself admitted that it had not been the easiest.

Bianca in Liverpool for The Duke of York Young Champions Trophy
The South African girls’ champion golfer, 14-year old Bianca Theron departed on Saturday for Liverpool in England having been invited to participate in the 54-hole Duke of York Young Champions Trophy being played at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club from 13 to 15 September.
New names in Inter-Prov line-up
Gauteng North A (Daisies) will be defending the Pick n Pay SA Women's Inter-Provincial Championship title they have won for the past four years – in 2007 (Clovelly), 2008 (Umhlali), 2009 (Paarl) and 2010 (Irene) when the event is played at George Golf Club from 18 to 23 September 2011.
Monique Smit wins the Southern Cape Championships in Knysna
Former Southern Cape Number One Monique Smit stamped her mark in the province once again when she won the Southern Cape Championships in a play-off against Kim Williams on Sunday on a soaked Knysna golf course.

WGSA welcomes Ekurhuleni Women’s Golf as its 13th Member Union from 2012

SA girls fail to qualify in Scotland
Sadly, the South African girls did not qualify for the match play of the Girls British Open Amateur played at Gullane Golf Club in Scotland this week. The top qualifier was 17 year old Noemí Jiménez from Spain who finished on -5 and goes forward with 63 other girls today to the match play.
SA Girls have to dig deep at Girls British in order to qualify
Lara Weinstein, the best of the South African girls competing in the Girls British Open Amateur, is tied 51st and, with only 64 of the 144 players able to qualify for the match-play stages, the girls know that they will have to dig deep today in order to qualify for thr match play.
Izel finishes tied 10th at the Harder
Sweden’s Lynn Carlsson won the 54 hole 2011 Harder German Junior Championship after a two-hole playoff against Marina Steutz (Austria). The two had tied at the top of the leader-board on five-under 211, three strokes ahead of the German pair, Larissa Skodda and Isabel Gadea, tied on 214. South Africa’s Izel Pieters finished tied 10th on three-over 219 (75, 71, 73).

Izel tied 11th with Michaela at Harder
South Africa’s Izel Pieters carded a one-under par (75, 71 - 146) and is now lying tied 11th with fellow South African, Michaela Fletcher (74, 72 – 146) after round two of the Harder German Junior Masters. The event is being played at the Golfclub Gut Neuzenhof at Heddersheim, Germany.

The baby in the SA team, Michaela Fletcher, posted the best score of the South African girls (two over par 74) in the first round of the Harder German Junior Masters being played at Golfclub Gut Neuzenhof in Heddesheim, Germany.
Izel, Lara and Michaela tee off in Germany
South Africa’s top three Junior Girls tee off today in round 1 of the Harder German Junior Masters, being played at Golfclub Gut Neuzenhof, Heddesheim in Germany. After their practice round yesterday (Monday), the three, Izel Pieters, Lara Weinstein and Michaela Fletcher are ready to compete in this prestigious international junior tournament. They are accompanied by WGSA President Cynthia Rayner.
