Yushira Budhram representing Gauteng A in the 72-Hole Team Championship, had her first Hole-in-One on the 150m Par 3 - 16^th Hole at Polokwane Golf Club during the first round of this prestigious tournament.

Five US College students are among the 72 provincial players to compete in the WGSA 72 Hole Teams Championships at Polokwane Golf Club this week.

The players are Claudia Redinger (KwaZulu Natal), Rushda Mallick (Western Province), Yushira Budhram (Gauteng), Lynn-Marié Nagel (Limpopo) and Elise Strutt (Border) pictured here.

The City of Ekurhuleni gave its first women’s golf teams a “send off” party Tuesday evening before departure for the Women’s Golf South Africa’s 72 Hole Teams Championships to be played at Polokwane from 21 to 23 May.

Losing Henriëtte Frylinck early this year to the professional ranks has not reduced the chances of the Gauteng A team (the DAISIES) successfully defending their WGSA 72 hole teams championship title which they won at Graceland, Mpumalanga in 2010 and at Langebaan in 2011. The team still includes both top-ranked South African amateurs, each of them winning the SA Stroke Play title in the past 14 months. Swaziland’s Nobuhle Dlamini picked up her third match play title of 2012 to add to her three stroke play titles when she returned a 3/2 win over Namibian Bonita Bredenhann at Glendower today.

After a disappointing SA Amateur in April, Kim Williams came back strongly this week to win The Pro Shop Gauteng 54 hole stroke play championship at Glendower Golf Club. Kim is pictured receiving her trophy from The Pro Shop's Sven Pederson.

South African and Utah Valley University freshman Lynn-Marié Nagel birdied two of the last three holes Wednesday to hold off Houston Baptist's Kelsey Lou-Hing to win top medalist honors at the Great West Conference Women's Golf Championships at the Alpine Country Club.

Women’s Golf SA welcomed five new Provincial Presidents to the Executive at meetings held at Umhlali Country Club last week. They are Daphne Maynier, Sarie Fourie, Desi Earle, Lol Jones and Cathy Mortimer.

Women’s Golf South Africa President Cynthia Rayner announced the team to represent South Africa at the All Africa Challenge Trophy to be played at Phakalane Golf Estate in Botswana from 2 to 7 June 2012.

The team is Lejan Lewthwaite (pictured), Alana van Greuning and Kim Williams. Manager Cynthia Rayner. Bertine Strauss will join the team immediately afterwards to play in the Botswana Open at Gaberone Golf Club on 9 and 10 June.

Swaziland’s Nobuhle Dlamini survived a late round wobble to end a three year wait with a brilliant wire-to-wire victory in the Sanlam Women’s Amateur SA Stroke Play Championship at Umhlali Country Club on Tuesday.
The Tuks Golf Academy student started with an eight shot lead and fired a final round two-over-par 73 to put the seal on a magnificent performance and a runaway victory.

Former Protea Lumien Orton (Lausberg) returned to national competition in style at the Sanlam SA Amateur Stroke Play Championships being played at Umhlali Country Club this week.

KwaZulu-Natal’s Taryn Heyns and Tiffany Avern-Taplin are ready to lead the local challenge against the country’s leading female amateurs when the Sanlam Women’s Amateur SA Stroke Play Championship tees off in their backyard on Sunday.

Good technique, hard work and big hearts are what make Nobuhle Dlamini and Alana van Greuning such formidable opponents. And a wise head on mature shoulders and a prodigious talent yet to be fully polished, is what gives 17-year-old Lara Weinstein her incredible edge.

Kim Williams will defend her Sanlam SA Stroke Play title for the second time when the SA Amateur is played at Umhlali Country Club from 15 to 17 April.

Western Province's Kelly Erasmus won the Nomads SA Girls Rose Bowl today, finishing two strokes ahead of fellow EE & FF member Izel Pieters. In third place was Korean Ji Sun Kang. The event was played at Pearl Valley Golf Estates.

After her nine stroke landslide victory at the KwaZulu Natal Stroke Play Championships played last weekend, 17-year old Lara Weinstein must be a firm favourite to pick up the coveted Nomads SA Girls’ Rose Bowl at Pearl Valley Golf Estate next week.
