Jacques Blaauw, Dylan Frittelli and Cameron Johnston have been selected to represent South Africa in the Eisenhower Trophy at the World Amateur Teams Championship (WATC) being played in Adelaide, Australia from 16 to 19 October.

At the beginning of August, the South African Senior Amateur Golf Association sent a team of ten players to UK, to play an International against the UK Senior Amateur Golf Association, and to participate in the British Senior Amateur Championships.

Boland Golf Union have announced their team to play in the South African Inter Provincial Tournament (SA IPT) which commences on Monday 22 September at Hermanus Golf Club.

The best amateur golfers in the world will descend on Adelaide as the 50 year anniversary of the World Amateur Teams Championships ignites the city in October.

Dylan Frittelli, the current South African Boys Under 18 champion, recorded a final round of 67, four under par, yesterday to finish with a 36 hole total of 135, seven under par, one shot clear of the rest of the field to record a magnificent win in the Barrett Amateur Championship.

18 year old Dylan Frittelli, of Irene Country Club in Gauteng North, managed to finish his first round yesterday, in the 54 hole Barrett Amateur Championship being played in the town of St Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada. He recorded two birdies on the back nine, to add to that he recorded a day earlier on the front, to finish on 68, three under par, and one shot off the pace.

South African women's amateur golf team to defend it's title in the 2008 World Amateur Teams Championship (WATC), the Espirito Santo Trophy, from 8 to 11 October in Adelaide, Australia, was announced by Women's Golf South Africa (WGSA) President Erica Lefson today.

Both Jacques Blaauw and Dylan Frittelli are one under par after weather delayed day one of the 54 hole Barrett Amateur Championship stroke play which was played at the Algonquin Golf Course in St Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada. This placed the two South Africans in sixth place tied along with two other players.

Three of South Africa's top ranked amateur golfers, Dylan Frittelli (1), Jacques Blaauw (7) and Cameron Johnston (5), will tee up in the prestigious 54 hole Barrett Amateur, an international invitational stroke play tournament, which commences tomorrow, at the Algonquin Golf Course in St Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada, knowing that a good result could improve their chances of being selected to play for South Africa at the World Amateur Teams Championships (WATC) (Eisenhower Trophy).

Elrick van Eck, one of many amateurs from South Africa who attends college in the America, won the Limpopo Amateur at Polokwane Golf Club on a credible score of 280 (2 under par) over the weekend.

The confident but admitted under dogs, Rustenburg won the Northern Province League Finals at the Randpark Club on Sunday when they managed to scrape a half out of their match against the side from Witbank.

The SADC Open, for which the President's Team was chosen, has been postponed.

The SADC Open was planned to coincide with the SADC Meeting which was to be held in Zambia next week and which is Chaired by the Zambian President who is unfortunately, at present, in a semi-comatose state in the intensive care unit of a military hospital in Paris.

President of the South African Junior Golf Foundation, Ann Rycraft, has been appointed to the International Advisory Board of the Toyota World Junior Team Championships (WJTC), it was announced today.

Bruce Younge, the South African Golf Association's (SAGA) Executive Director, has been invited by the R & A to officiate at the 137th Open Championship which starts on Thursday, 17th July 2008, at Royal Birkdale, just outside the town of Southport in Lancashire on the west coast of England.

The South African Golf Association (SAGA) announced the names of eight players for the President's Team to play in the inaugural SADC Armature Open Championship. This amateur golf event will be played at the Lusaka Golf Club, Zambia, from 2nd to 3rd August 2008.

"The team represents some of our talented young players who will be exposed to international competition for the first time," said Neale Kunhardt, President of the SAGA who will also be the team's manager.

The first ever South African Golf Association Squad training sessions were held this week when nineteen of South Africa's leading amateurs congregated at the World of Golf in Woodmead, Johannesburg on Monday for three days of golf analysis.

Nineteen of South Africa's leading amateur golfers, selected by the South African Golf Association (SAGA), assemble at the World of Golf, in Johannesburg, on Monday (30th June), for three days, for their first ever squad session.

Four of South Africa's top junior golfers went to Japan to play in the Toyota Junior World Cup of Golf, as it is now known, with high expectations. However the disappointing form shown in the first three rounds prevailed again in today's final round. With the best three scores counting, the South African team recorded a final round score of 214, one over par, and a 72 hole total of 858, six over par. They finished thirty four shots off the pace in 12th position.

The South African Junior amateur team were down to three men after Andre De Decker was disqualified in the third round of the Toyota World Junior Team Championships, being played at Chuyko Golf Club over the Ishino course outside the town of Nagoya in Japan.
