Following 8 months of club qualifying events in which over 8500 golfers took part around the country, 460 players participated in six Regional Final events to compete for a place in the National Finals of the Old Mutual International Pairs SA. On the 25th August, forty eight golfers assembled at Zebula CC for three days of intense golf in the African bush on a golf course that was in superb condition - especially considering the time of the year.

Ashleigh Holmes wins the Turkish Open
South Africa's Ashleigh Holmes picked up the inaugural Turkish Ladies Amateur Championship Trophy yesterday, Sunday 7 September, at the Cornelia Golf Club, Antalya, Turkey. Lying second coming into the final round, Ashleigh's 76 was good enough to win the event by one stroke on 307 (77, 78, 76, 76) from Charlene Reid of Ireland and Elcin Ulu of Turkey, both on 308. Team mate Gina Switala did not start the tournament well, scoring 82, 81 and 82, but came back with a great 75 in the final round to finish in 11th position.
Sun City ready to host the 12th World University Golf Championship
Ninety six of the best golfers from universities all over the world will be teeing it up over the period 2-5 September, 2008 competing for the title of World University Golf Champion. Eighteen countries have entered for this showpiece organised by University Sport South Africa. These are Belgium, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Afric, Swden, Switzerland and the United States of America.
