Izel and Lara lead Rose Bowl after Round 1
Lara Weinstein and Izel Pieters lead the field after the first round of the SA Girls’ Rose Bowl being played at Kloof Country Club this week. Both players carded one-under-par 70’s, one stroke ahead of top ranked Connie Chen.
SA Girls’ Rose Bowl attracts record entry at Kloof
The 2010 SA Girls’ Rose Bowl gets underway tomorrow at the magnificent Kloof Country Club in KwaZulu Natal. Women’s Golf South Africa has taken over the running of this 54-hole junior tournament from the SAJGF and attracted a record entry of 80 players.
Kim Williams picks up WP Match Play Championship
Top-ranked Kim Williams won the Western Province match play championship played at King David Country Club this week when she defeated Kempton Park junior Talia Nel at the 17th to win 2/1.
Namibia’s Bonita Bredenhann wins Western Province Stroke Play Championships
17-Year old Namibian Bonita Bredenhann won the Western Province Championship played at Kind David Country Club on Monday 15 March when she returned level par rounds of 72, 72 (144), two strokes ahead of Mowbray's Yvette du Plessis. Bonita won the Eastern Cape stroke play championship at Port Elizabeth last month.
Yolanda Duma wins Border Match Play Championship
Yolanda Duma won the Border match play championship played at West Bank Golf Club this week when she enjoyed a 3/2 victory over Stephanie Perkins.
14-Year old Michaela wins Border Championships
The 42nd Border Ladies' Open Amateur Championship was won by 14-year old Michaela Fletcher, one stroke ahead of SA Amateur Stroke Play Champion Yvette du Plessis.
Connie breaks another course record to win North West Champs
17-Year old Waterkloof junior Connie Chen won the North West Championship with a 10 under-par 134, breaking the Potchefstoom golf course record with her first round 66 on the the 72-par course.
Changes to the SAGA Handicap System
The SAGA Handicapping and Course Rating Committee has decided that from 1 April 2010 the SAGA will discontinue the Handicap Allowance.
Course Record wins the KZN Championships
17 year old Connie Chen (Waterkloof) shattered the Umhlali Country Club ladies course record with a sparkling 64 in the second round to win the KZN 2010 Ladies Championship by seven shots on Sunday 28th February.
Sanlam Cancer Golf Challenge moves to Sun City
The final round of the ever-popular Sanlam Cancer Golf Challenge will be played at Sun City this year. This tournament was held with great success at San Lameer on the KwaZulu-Natal coast for the past 17 years. The event will be played from 24th – 27th October 2010.
Kim Williams is WGSA Golfer of the Year
Top ranked SA Woman Golfer Kim Williams was presented with WGSA's Golfer of the Year award at the glittering Compleat Golfer awards ceremony held at Country Club Johannesburg this evening.
Tanco holds on to win Annika Invitational
What looked like it may be a back-nine battle quickly turned into a one-girl show. Two-time Rolex Junior Player of the Year, Victoria Tanco notched a fourth Invitational title to her name with a win at Reunion.
South Africa's Connie Chen finished tied 13 on 225 after a final round of 77 while team mate Bertine Strauss was two strokes back in 18th position. She carded 78 in the final round.

Israel's Laetitia Beck and Florida's Victoria Tanco share the second round lead of the Annika Invitational after their impressive play on Sunday, day two of the event. Beck, who led after the first round, shot one-under-par, while Tanco fired a six-under 66 to jump from tied fourth to share the lead at the Reunion Resort.
South Africa's Connie Chen and Bertine Strauss carded 72 and 74 respectively on day two to remain in the top 13 of this 72 player international field of junior golfers.

SA play solid golf at the Annika Invitational
In freezing temperatures at the Annika Invitational in Orlando, both Bertine Strauss (75) and Connie Chen (76) played solid rounds on day one to lie in 10th and 17th positions respectively. And after the round, Annika spent time with the players giving them a clinic with lots of good advice - both Connie and Bertine were able to demonstrate shots with her.
Connie gets to have a lesson from David Leadbetter
Connie Chen days that she had the best day of her life when she went to practice at Champions Gate on Wednesday 10 February in Orlando, Florida and met Trevor Immelman and Suzanne Petterson. As if that was not interesting enough I also got time with David Leadbetter.
Bertine and Connie meet Annika Sorrenstam in the USA
The second Annika Invitational gets under way today. Saturday 13 February and at the opening ceremony last night, South Africa's top ranked juniors, Connie Chen and Bertine Strauss met Annika once again.
Bonita and Tiffany are Eastern Cape Champs
17 year-old Namibian Bonita Bredenhann and KZN's Tiffany Avern-Taplin are the respective 2010 Nedbank Eastern Province stroke play and match play champions. The championship was concluded on Tuesday 9 February and played at Port Elizabeth Golf Club, venue of the upcoming 2010 SA Amateur Championship.
Snowed in on the journey to the Annika Invitational!
Connie, Bertine and Erica's plane was diverted to New York after Washington, their original stop-off in the US, experienced 18 inches of snow and was closed.
Connie Chen wins first event of the year
With consistent rounds of par 72 and one over 73, Waterkloof's 17-year old Connie Chen won the first women's event of the year - the Gauteng North Junior Championships - played at Service golf Club on Sunday 24 January.
