Both Danilel Hammond and Ryan Dreyer successfully negotiated their way through the 36 hole Qualifying to enter the match play stages of the 115^th Argentine Amateur Championship.

The two South African amateur golfers, in the field for the 115^th Argentine Amateur Championship, Ryan Dreyer and Daniel Hammond, look well placed to qualify for the match play stages after the first round of the thirty six hole qualifying round.

Finland literally ran away with this year’s Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup winning the International Team Tournament by a handsome eleven shots.

It was Ryan Dreyer who stepped up to the plate for South Africa in the third round of the 72 hole stroke play Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup. Playing in windy conditions the thirty eight year old Killarney Country Club amateur golfer recorded a two under par 69.

Daniel Hammond’s one over par 72, in the second round of the Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup, an improvement of seven shots on his first round score, helped the South African two man team to a second round team score of 147.

The French Team won the 2010 men’s World Amateur Team Championship and the Eisenhower Trophy with a 54 hole team score of 423, seven under par. They finished four shots clear of Denmark. While the South African team recorded a final round of 149, five over par, in very windy playing conditions.

The Eisenhower Trophy was reduced to a 54 hole tournament by the International Golf Federation after half the field were required to return on Saturday to complete their second round.

Rain and lightning disrupted play in the second round of the Eisenhower Trophy being played over two golf courses just outside Buenos Aires, Argentina. This provided for testing conditions in which good scoring was few and far between.

Ekurhuleni, who beat host Union Boland, at the end of the day emerged the winner of the A Section while Mpumalanga comfortably took the B Section honours in the South African Mid Amateur Inter Provincial Tournament.

The form book is certainly anything but consistent in this year’s South African Mid Amateur Inter Provincial Tournament being played at Worcester Golf Club, especially in the A Section.

Kwazulu-Natal, defending champions in the South African Mid Amateur Inter Provincial Tournament, beat host province Boland to put themselves back in contention to win this year’s tournament being played at Worcester Golf Club.

Western Province and Ekurhuleni remain the only two unbeaten teams in the A Section after the second round of the South African Mid Amateur Inter Provincial which is being played at Worcester Golf Club in the Boland.

The eight man team from Kwazulu Natal make the journey south, to the Boland’s Worcester Golf Club, to defend the title they won last year when they tee up in the 2010 South African Mid Amateur Inter Provincial on Monday (11 October 2010).

Saturday 25 September 2010, the centenary celebrations of the South African Golf Association (SAGA) started appropriately with a game of golf. Thirty eight players teed up for eighteen holes over the Woodhill Country Club layout situated just outside Pretoria.

South Africa's Thabo Maseko needed to make a par on the last hole of the 2010 Egyptian Amateur to make the playoff but he recorded a bogey on the difficult 18th hole and finished in third place hence qualifying to play in the 2010 Egyptian Open which forms part of the European Challenge Tour. Maseko recorded rounds of 69 75 and 73 for a three round total of 217.

Western Province was in ascendancy once more as they claimed the 50^th South African Inter Provincial at Pretoria Country Club on Friday. The 2008 champions mowed down Southern Cape 8½ - 3½ for their fifth successive win in this year’s tournament and collected their 16th victory in the annual team event.
