The Glacier Junior Series wrapped up its qualifying tournaments with the Compleat Golfer Tournament at Humewood Golf Club on Sunday. The A Division title went to Humewood’s own Jacques Smith, who won by two strokes with a round of 76. Smith will be playing in his third National Final.

South Africa’s Dylan Naidoo tied for 14^th in the 2015 Duke of York Young Champions Trophy, while compatriot Ivanna Samu claimed a runner-up finish in the Girls Competition and finished ninth overall in the prestigious international junior championship at Prince’s Golf Club in England on Friday.

Southern Cape’s Tom Watson will take a one shot lead into the second round of the Mpumalanga Open Stroke Play Championship after a firing a flawless seven-under-par 65 on Friday.
Watson, who is yet to break through on the South African Golf Association’s provincial circuit, reeled in five birdies and an eagle at Walker Park Golf Club to edge ahead of Angus Cole-Ellis from Ekurhuleni.

The South African Golf Association (SAGA) has selected Jason Smith, Jade Buitendag, Aubrey Beckley and new cap Andre Nel to fly the flag for South Africa in the eighth African Amateur Golf Teams Championship in Kenya. The team will line up in the country’s title defence at Limuru Country Club from 12-15 October.

Riccardo Leo secured a fifth victory for Italy in the Reply Italian International Under-16 Championship, but Herman Loubser, Luke Mayo and Luca Filippi gave South African golf fans cause for celebration with a hat-trick of top 10 finishes in the ninth edition at Golf Club Bielle in Italy.

Luca Filippi and Herman Loubser will lead the South African challenge at the ninth Reply Italian International Under-16 Championship in Biella, Italy on Tuesday.

Reigning SA Boys Under-15 champion Wilco Nienaber from Free State will be making his debut in the Reply Italian International Under-16 Championship alongside 2015 Nomads SA Boys Under-17 champion Herman Loubser from Boland, fourth ranked Luca Filippi from Western Province and 10^th ranked Luke Mayo from KwaZulu-Natal in Biella, Italy from 1 to 3 September.

Dylan Naidoo left it until the second last tournament of the 2015 Glacier Junior Series to book his place in the National Final with a win in the Dale Hayes Tournament at Zwartkop Country Club on Sunday. Naidoo’s round of 67 gave him a three-stroke victory over Kyle Barker and Dylan Kok.

With only two tournaments left on this year’s Glacier Junior Series, the race to make the National Final is reaching its climax. And Pretoria’s junior golfers will get their last chance to do so at Zwartkop Country Club this Sunday.

Boland junior Herman Loubser is savouring his return trip to the Reply Italian International Under-16 Championship next week after winning the 2015 KwaZulu-Natal Amateur Championship on Sunday.
The 16-year-old Theewaterskloof golfer underlined his growing status as one of the South Africa’s rising stars when he eliminated Albert Venter 4 & 2 in the 36-hole final at Selborne Country Club.
